Contact the documentation team
Send us a correction, a broken citation, or a question about a document.
Messages go straight to the documentation team. Requests that affect a citation — a wrong section number, a moved link, a superseded circular — are read first, then questions about how an entry records a specific document. No account to create, no tracking number; your message and our reply are the record.
What to include in a correction request
A short message with the page name and the specific problem moves faster than a general note. Corrections are the first thing the desk triages each day, so name the page and quote the exact line.
-
Name the page
Use the exact title shown on the page you are reading from, so the desk can pull the same entry without guessing.
-
Quote the wrong sentence or citation
Paste the sentence, section number, or citation exactly as it appears on our page. A quoted line is easier to locate than a paraphrase.
-
Give the source that shows the correct version
Link or name the document that supersedes the entry. If an agency reissued the source, include the date you checked it so we can confirm the same edition.
Reporting an outdated or moved link
Links age faster than the text around them, and federal guidance quietly migrates between sections of an agency site. When you file a report, we check it against the live source before touching the entry.
If the document moved to a new section of an agency site, say where you found it. If you were redirected, the destination URL is often the fastest trail back to the current version.
The link as it appears on our page
Copy the label and the address from the entry you clicked. This tells us which record needs re-checking.
Where the URL sent you
If a redirect moved you to a new page, paste the destination. A moved section is usually a section renumbering, not a deleted document.
Ready to file the report?
Report an outdated referenceEvery report is confirmed before the entry changes. If a document is still live under a new address, we update the reference instead of removing it.
Questions about citing a document
If you need help formatting a reference to a manual, circular, or policy update, send the document name and the section you are citing. We can explain how the entry records that document's hierarchy — which parent rule it sits under, whether it is an amendment or a standalone, and how supersession is noted.
What we cannot do is advise on how a rule applies to a specific case. That question belongs with the issuing agency or with your counsel. Our scope stays on the document: what it is called, where it lives, and what it replaced.
Response times and how we reply
We read every message. Corrections that affect a citation are typically reviewed first, and questions about a specific document follow. Replies come by email to the address you provide.
No account needed
There is no account to create and no tracking number. Your message and our reply are the record.
Send a correction or ask about a document
Use this form for correction requests, broken links, and questions about a citation. Include the page name and the specific sentence so the desk can act on it without a back-and-forth.
- Corrections affecting a citation are reviewed first.
- Replies go by email, Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM ET.
- Your message and email are handled under our privacy policy.
What we cannot help with
Our scope is documentation. Some questions look like documentation questions but belong somewhere else. If you send one of these, we will point you to the right channel and explain why it sits outside the desk.
- Legal advice
- We do not interpret a rule for your situation. Contact the issuing agency or your own counsel. We can tell you where a citation lives, not how a rule applies.
- Filing a public comment
- We do not file public comments on your behalf. Rulemaking matters go through the comment channel the agency publishes on its own docket.
- Case status
- We cannot confirm the status of an individual application or case. Contact the agency that issued the guidance for anything tied to a specific filing.
Privacy of your message
Details you send, including your email address and any text you paste, are handled as described in the privacy policy. We do not publish correction requests without asking, and we do not add submission addresses to marketing lists.
If a correction changes an entry, the updated wording is published on the same page. Attribution is not attached to the fix unless you ask for it.

Still deciding where your question fits?
Browse the policy library to check whether the document you are asking about is already listed, or send the question anyway — the desk will route it and tell you where it belongs.
